A guest post by Alina Hartmann
On July 12 and 13, 2025, a very special basketball camp took place at the Bamberg Baskets training center in Strullendorf: the very first “Alina Hartmann x Freak City” Camp, an all-girls basketball camp with 35 participants from all over Bavaria. The goal of the weekend: empower girls, make women’s basketball more visible, and specifically support young talents.
Behind the camp is Freak City Bamberg, the youth partner of Bamberg Baskets – with a clear vision to build structures in women’s basketball over the coming years and establish a Bundesliga team. Alina Hartmann, long-time pro player, Olympian, and Bamberg native, supports this project with all her heart – and was there as a mentor at the camp, despite a recent knee injury. Her presence was especially inspiring for many girls: a tangible role model who gives courage.
Intensive Sessions & Real Insights
Training took place over two days in small groups, focusing on technique, athleticism, and game intelligence – supported by experienced coaches from Bamberg, Erlangen, and Litzendorf. In addition to classic training sessions, 3x3 and 5x5 games were on the schedule, which really showcased the girls’ team spirit and joy for the game.

Nutrition – an Underrated Gamechanger
A special focus of the camp was on nutrition in youth competitive sports. Especially in girls’ youth sports, there’s often a lack of solid knowledge about basics like recovery, energy intake, and healthy routines.
“I myself learned way too late in my career just how much nutrition affects your body – and therefore your performance. That’s exactly why it was so important to me to give the girls some basic knowledge here,” says Alina.

The talk covered, among other things, the following questions:
-
What should I eat before training – and what about after?
-
How can I meet my protein needs in a smart way?
-
Which snacks give you energy without weighing you down?
-
Why are micronutrients especially important for young female athletes?
This is where products from ORGAINIC fit perfectly: The participants received a sample pack of protein, a bar, as well as a high-quality shaker and a towel – some as goodies, some as prizes for special achievements.
Conclusion
The “Alina Hartmann x Freak City” camp was a huge success – not just in terms of sports, but especially on a personal level. It showed just how much potential there is in girls’ basketball and how important targeted support is. For many of the participants, it was a weekend that left a lasting impression – both on the court and in their minds.
A big thank you to ORGAINIC for supporting the camp with high-quality products – helping not only with motivation, but also contributing to sustainable development.
